To Prepare Yourself & your home

YOURSELF

For a Smooth Voice & Peace of Mind:

  • H20
Be sure to drink up the couple hours before your scheduled interview, so you feel hydrated. Tip: a hot cup of lemon water can do wonders for the throat. If you have a drink with you for during the interview- hold the ice, please. :)

  • Restrooms
A little reminder, for before the interview.

  • Notes
Feel free to use notes and take notes, as well.

  • Relax
Think of it as a coffee date, not an interview. :)
I like to do a little deep breathing exercise, stretch or a short meditation before.

  • Smile
You can actually hear the difference in your voice, and it sounds lovely.

YOUR HOME

For Audio Quality & Soundproofing Purposes:

  • Pets
With all the love in my heart, please keep your best friends in another room just for the interview. Before or after said interview- I would love to meet them (if video chatting)!

  • Quiet Checks

    • Mic not rubbing on shirt (if in-line mic is used)

    • phone on silent

    • laptop notifications on silent

    • Home: laundry, dishwasher, etc.

  • Recording Space

    • Carpeted Rooms

    • Closets

    • Blankets or Towels can be laid over hard surfaces to help with echo

to prepare your technology

TECHNOLOGY

  • External Mic
    *Necessary for our interview
*Built in laptop microphones DO NOT provide good audio, so please avoid this if possible*
    Learn more about microphones here.
    Learn Mic Technique here.

  • Headphones/ Earphones
    *Necessary for our interview
This makes it so my voice coming out of your speakers doesn’t reverb back into the recording.

  • SquadCast
Make sure you have downloaded Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for SquadCast recording. Check out there video here to learn exactly how to interview log in on SquadCast.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

If you feel like you mis-spoke at any time during the interview, need a moment to think, a drink of water- anything- and know all interviews are edited afterward for easy listening. Let me know at any time if you need to pause or break.

Questions I like to ask:

  • What is your first memory of plants?

  • Do you have a β€œplant with a story”?

  • How do you involve yourself in the plant community?

  • How have plants improved your quality of life?

  • What other earth based initiatives have you been inspired to become a part of?
