I’M SHII, YOUR PERSONAL PLANT expert!

I have over 14 years of experience working with plants and designing inspiring green spaces that convert homes, gardens and businesses into a natural edens that give all the biophilic benefits of walking through the forest without ever leaving the comfort of the space.

I have a degree in “Public Horticulture” and specialize in spaces where plants and people come together. I have worked for colleges, senators, bonsai masters and even HGTV. I have experience growing all over the country and am a Certified Master Gardener in Tennessee, Florida and Alaska.

🌿 HOW LONG ARE THE WORKSHOPS AND HOW OFTEN ARE THEY HELD?

Workshops are offered every month, typically on Fridays and Saturdays, but we do switch things up occasionally for those who have conflicting schedules. Workshops are approximately 2 hours in length depending on the subject or craft, and can be split up into a series if they will take significantly more time than that.

🌿 WHAT MATERIALS OR SUPPLIES ARE NEEDED FOR WORKSHOPS?

All necessary materials are provided in every workshop, unless otherwise stated in the description. For some creative workshops, you are encouraged to bring forages or inclusions from home to create a more customized and unique artwork, but it is never necessary.

🌿 ARE THE WORKSHOPS SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS OR MORE EXPERIENCED GARDENERS / PLANT ENTHUSIASTS?

Most workshops are geared towards a variety of plant experience levels, but they do specify in the title and description if a particular workshops is best suited for one specific group. The content of each workshop is very detailed, and always aimed to ensure every single attendee leaves with skills and information they did not know or have before.

🌿 WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR WORKSHOPS?

In our workshops, we're all about getting our hands dirty (in the best possible way, of course)! I’m a hands-on learner myself, so you can expect a unique blend of hands-on gardening fun, expert-led instruction, and plant-powered camaraderie. From mastering the art of indoor gardening in Alaska's challenging climate to creating stunning moss art masterpieces and hand-made pottery, we've got something for every Alaskan plant lover!

🌿 IS THERE A COST ASSOCIATED WITH ATTENDING WORKSHOPS?

Yes there is a fee to attend workshops, and they often vary in price. Most workshops are hands-on and so physical materials are almost always needed for you to get the most experience possible in our time together. Fee depends on how many supplies will be necessary for the workshop, and how involved it is. Past workshops have varied in price from $25-$110. Each workshop is priced with intention and mostly covers space and materials.

🌿 WHERE ARE THE WORKSHOPS HELD AND IS THERE PARKING?

Workshops are consistently held at 49th State Brewery in Anchorage, although you may also see our workshops offered in other plant spaces around Anchorage, Wasilla and Palmer, AK. Parking is typically not an issue, as 49th State Brewery does have a parking lot across the street as well as street parking around the building. The best part about offering workshops here is that their YUMMY menu is available to us to order drinks and food during our events (additional fee, of course). And most workshops are structured so you can eat at the beginning during the “lecture portion” before we get hands-on.

🌿 HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Ready to take join us for a workshop? Our workshops are the perfect place to learn new skills, swap tips with fellow plant enthusiasts, and immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Alaska garowing. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete novice, you'll leave our workshops feeling inspired, empowered, and ready to tackle your next plant project with confidence! NOTE: It’s important to register in advance, as workshops often sell out.
