Before we move clearly into MMXX lets take a little stroll down the jungle path and review the exciting journey that began for us in 2019!
2019 IN REVIEW
The thought of starting this podcast has been incubating since 2018. It all began one day in my tiny island bungalow, which at the time was housing me, my three dogs and 400+ plants! It became obvious to me that I was spending all of my time tending, acquiring, working with and gaining the great wisdom of plants. I was turning all of my friends and loved ones onto plants, and spending my spare time answering message after message about plants in my various inboxes. Thats when I realized not only that people respected my advice but also that my advice was saving plants, making people happier and spreading the joy of plant cultivation across the country.
I’ll be honest- I was a plant lady LOOOOONG before it was “cool” and I often find myself in disbelief that the plant community has absolutely exploded and it doesn’t look like it will be slowing down any time soon. With growth this fast in any market, there is bound to be a a gap in consumer information, and that’s where I come in. I am here to help alleviate some of that confusion, to speak out on behalf of plants as well as our gorgeous earth mother and expand our minds past any previously conceived barriers around plants. I believe that plant care is a reflection of self care which is also a reflection of planet care. This is a Plant Plan(e)t after all, and this podcast is meant to shine a light on the unraveling mystery of the plant kingdom and community.
Come May 2019, I decided to take my plant knowledge 5,000k miles across the US and Canada to the great state of Alaska. This is where I connected with the Alaska Botanical Garden, where we bought our “first home” (and filled it with plants) and began the official launch of Among the Jungle Podcast! It was honestly such a long and scary ride deciding to create this podcast- but now that I have actually taken aligned action steps, I can honestly say it brings me such EXTREME JOY to share all that I know with you all.

I decided to break up this podcast by “seasons”, and not just any seasons, but the actual equinoxes. I did this for several reasons: one is that it just made sense that we would naturally flow with the seasons, and this could help with more season specific content, as well as a message that it is ok to transform several times in a year, and that anything you are going through is simply a season and the best way to appreciate it is to honor it while it is here. We began our first season on September 24th 2019, and so began our jungle journey together. Since then, we have had guests and listeners tune in from ALL OVER THE WORLD- literally.
It’s been an absolute honor to share this content with you, and while I have been on a small hiatus this winter season- know I am working behind the scenes on a new audio space, planning live events, recruiting exciting new guests, focusing on our overall IMPACT and getting geared up for a plant-filled NEW YEAR!!
